Fred Andrews Racing (FAR) Husqvarna team had a good showing at the Cherokee National Enduro with Jason Thomas landing another top-ten finish. Though Thomas' teammate Andrew Delong was sidelined with an injury, he still showed his support by cheering on fellow Husqvarna riders, which included his younger brother, Craig Delong, and country music star Craig Morgan.

Rain throughout Saturday night made for muddy conditions at the Cherokee National Enduro in Greensboro, Georgia. Thomas started out the day with a 14th place finish on the first test after crashing and getting stuck under his bike. He made improvements from there and scored well in the subsequent special tests to end the day in eighth place.

AVT Inc. has designed and is reportedly planning to produce a self-serve kiosk for Insta-Ink, which markets remanufactured ink cartridges. The AVT system will automate ink cartridge transactions, from purchases to returns for recycling purposes.

AVT's Insta-Ink system will hold more than 800 of the most popular printer cartridges. Customers will be able to enter the brand name, cartridge number or printer model on the machine's touchscreen to find a selection; the system then finds the desired cartridge and dispenses it. The machine reportedly can accept used cartridges and store them for recycling.

Corona police on Wednesday night were looking for a man who broke into a home with a second intruder and pepper-sprayed a 12-year-old boy and his mother.

The mother and her son arrived at their home in the 600 block of Azure Lane about 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 8 and found one of the men inside during an attempted burglary, the Corona Police Department said.

He arrived in San Diego with a sizeable 22-point deficit to Eli Tomac, the Supercross Lites West Region Championship points leader at the time. Wilson’s goal was to finish on the podium, make up as many points as possible on Tomac, and leave healthy as the West Region prepared to go on its annual midseason break. In San Diego, however, Deano’s luck turned around and he ended up having one of the most memorable nights of his career.

Well, our city certainly has no dearth of music-themed museums and halls of fame and so forth — even if they do adopt extremely long monikers and feature demos by non-Beatles with Beatle names. But before I go digressing, let me just tell you what's up: As reported by our sister publication, The City Paper, Johnny Cash friend and fan Bill Miller plans to open a museum dedicated to The Man in Black this summer on Lower Broad. The museum will be located near the intersection of Third Avenue South and Broadway, and it will cost about $7 million to construct. Says CP:

“This is the realization of a long term dream,” Miller said. Specifically, that dream consists of a two-floor, 18,000 square foot museum, including a 250-seat music venue, honoring Cash's life and musical legacy. Miller said the project will cost roughly $7 million and open this summer. The museum will be privately-funded by Miller, a former Corona, Calif. mayor, memorabilia dealer and expert. “We can do whatever we want ... We don't have a board to report to,” Miller said. “Johnny always trusted me. Whatever I do, [it will be] how he wanted it to be done.”

On the first day of spring training, every year, Padres players and coaches check into the Peoria Sports Complex and usually greet each other happily with handshakes, high fives and even a few hugs. Darr, 25, from Corona, CA, was killed exactly 10 years ago, when he lost control of his GMC Yukon in a single-car accident on Highway 101 at 2 a.m. Feb. 15, 2002. It was reported in Sports Illustrated that the Yukon swerved into a dirt median, then quickly darted right, sending the SUV into a roll. It tumbled across the traffic lanes, plowed through a chain-link fence and came to rest upside down on a service road. Darr and passenger Duane Johnson were not wearing seat belts and both died instantly. Minor league pitcher Ben Howard, who was sitting in the back seat, wore his seat belt, and survived suffering minor injuries.

A Riverside County Sheriff' Deputy who was off-duty when he allegedly shot and killed a man Dec. 21 in Spelly's Pub & Grille in Murrieta appeared in court Friday with an injured hand.

With a hand injury suffered in jail, accused killer and former Riverside County Sheriff's Deputy Dayle Long appeared in court today.

The court appearance was to set a date for a preliminary hearing for Long, who pleaded not guilty in the Dec. 21 shooting death of Sam Vanettes at Spelly's Pub & Grille in Murrieta.

The hearing was set for March 5 and is expected to take four hours.

Long's deputy public defender, Jeff Zimel, asked that an MRI be ordered for Long's hand.

A band of copper thieves has caused menace in Corona, so the city is offering a $1,000 reward for info that will lead to arrests.

A $1,000 reward was posted by the city of Corona today for information leading to the arrest and conviction of individuals responsible for a spate of thefts targeting wiring for street lights.

Copper wire thieves have struck a number of times in the city over the past few years, but officials issued their first public notice about the street light activity in October.

A representative from Studio Lambert (producers of “Undercover Boss”) is producing a new series for the Oprah Winfrey Network about families who are struggling with their teens, and reach out to their neighbors and community for positive solutions. They made the pilot over the summer and it is a really great, uplifting show.

They have a couple episodes to shoot and are looking for families to cast in the Los Angeles area, and believe Corona\Norco\Eastvale might be a good neighborhood for the program.

Lowriding is a passion that often consumes us from a young age, and Danny Martinez of Corona, California, is no different. He was not yet a teen when he first got into Lowriding in the year 2000, but the Lowriding bug bit him anyway, and he began customizing bicycles and showing them at the local car and bike shows. When Danny would walk around the events, he would look at all the cars and dream of one day having a customized low-low of his own. The one ride that always fascinated him was the Chevy El Camino. Coincidently, Danny’s father had purchased an El Camino and when Danny was old enough to get his driver’s license, his father graciously gave him the car. From there, Danny quickly started putting together his plans to customize it.

Danny and his father began sanding down the car’s body, preparing it for paint. Once the body was ready, they took it over to their good friend, Gustavo, over at the Utility Body Shop. Gustavo painted the ride with a beautiful Silver finish. Danny ended up adding chrome accessories to the engine before paying a trip over to Victor, of Best Polishing in Pomona, to have him chrome-plate the steering linkage and the A-arms. The chrome-plating shop, Taps, in Riverside re-chromed the front and back bumpers. Danny eventually added a custom hydraulic suspension, allowing him to lay the El-Co low or lock it up high. The front clip was upgraded to that of an ’82 El Camino and Danny had airbrushed murals and pinstripes round out the exterior appearance of his custom Silver ride.

Bradford M. Freeman Director of Football David Shaw announced today that 22 high school seniors have signed official national letters of intent to play football at Stanford University next fall.

The 22 student-athletes attend high school in 14 states--California (3), Texas (3), Arizona (3), Florida (2) and Washington (2), along with one player each from the states of Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Virginia and Utah.

By position, the Cardinal added seven offensive linemen, five defensive linemen, four wide receivers, three defensive backs, two linebackers and one running back to its roster. One player is also listed as a tight end, as well as a defensive end.

The temple is at risk of foreclosure, and believes that Mel Gibson could improve his reputation within the Jewish community if he donates the necessary sum of money to prevent the temple’s doors from closing down.

The head of California's air quality board on Thursday called proposed rules that would require automakers to build less-polluting cars and trucks by 2025 a historic move for a cleaner environment.

California Air Resources Board Chairman Mary Nichols said she hopes the rules to require that vehicles emit about 75 percent less smog-producing pollutants will "lead the nation and the world."

On January 12, 2012, at 8:00 AM, officers from the California Highway Patrol contacted the Perris Station regarding the recovery of a vehicle which had been stolen from the 29000 block of Turtle Rock Ct., Menifee on January 10, 2012, at 5:57 AM. Officers from the California Highway Patrol stopped the stolen vehicle, occupied by two people. The female passenger was taken into custody, while the male driver fled the scene on foot.

Investigators from the Menifee Police Department went to Santa Ana and discovered a large amount of stolen property inside the vehicle. The property was determined to have been stolen from various locations throughout Corona and Menifee. Items stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 28000 block of Via Marsala, Menifee on January 11, 2012, were identified and returned to the victim.

Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium played host to the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship for the second time. Despite an ominous weather report, fans made their way to the stadium to catch round four of the series, in what proved to be an exciting and intense night of racing.

A murder suspect was behind bars Monday after allegedly running over and killing a local grandfather on purpose.

Riverside County deputies say 68-year-old Herman Villalobos was riding his bike Sunday along Windsong Street in Corona, just a few blocks from his home, when a male driver intentionally plowed his car into the man.

The driver took off, leaving Villalobos in the street to be discovered by his neighbors.

The Victoria Royals dealt Sundher, the franchise’s all-time leading scorer, to the Brandon Wheat Kings on Monday evening, less than 24 hours before the WHL’s trade deadline arrives.

Corona, CA: Officials identify man who died in fall from Cosmopolitan

Authorities said it was unclear what caused a 21-year-old man to fall to his death from a Cosmopolitan balcony on New Year’s Day.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Christopher Sergio Reveles, of Corona, Calif. His death was ruled an accident.

Metal Mulisha will revisit its roots in Supercross and Motocross with an agreement to become the official casual sponsor for the Valli-Star Supercross/Motocross team.

When the family of Sam Vanettes gathered around the kitchen table on New Year's Day in French Valley, laughter and coffee flowed—just as they said he would have wanted it.

But tears flowed, too, for the life that ended unexpectedly Dec. 21 when an off-duty Riverside County sheriff's deputy allegedly fired his gun and took it.

Corona, CA: 91 toll lanes could be extended to Corona

The 8-mile extension of the 91 Express Lanes -- designed to ease gridlock between Orange and Riverside counties -- is moving forward with added funding and a new deal to jointly manage the toll lanes.

Riverside County plans to extend the Express Lanes from the Orange County line to the I-15 and will add a new lane in each direction of the 91. Several interchanges will be improved, as well as streets in the city of Corona.

In the den of Darryl Roth’s Corona home, cartoon ogres cover the walls, staring back at him with salivating tongues, bloodshot eyes, jagged claws and gnashing teeth. To Roth, the images represent rebellion, a gloriously grotesque imagination — and his father.

“I look around and I swear, it’s like he’s still alive. He’s still here,” Roth said. He’s the youngest son of iconic hot rod artist Ed “Big Daddy” Roth, and this year marked the 10th anniversary of his father’s passing. “Even now,” said the son, “I’m blown away by him.”

Corona, CA: Riverside Hit-and-Run Accident Proves Fatal for Tow Truck Driver

Christopher Barton Tatro, 40, of Corona, was killed in a Riverside car accident, which police report, involved a hit-and-run driver. According to a news article in The Press-Enterprise, the fatal hit-and-run accident occurred on the 91 Freeway, near Monroe Street, during the early morning hours of December 17, 2011.

Officials say Tatro was operating the controls of the hydraulic lift on a tow truck when a tan sedan, possibly a beige late-1990s Saturn, struck the left side of the tow truck. The driver of the vehicle did not stop, and was last seen exiting the freeway at Adams Street. Tatro suffered massive injuries to his legs and torso and succumbed to his injuries a couple of hours later. The authorities are searching for the car, which they believe sustained damage to its right side, including damage to the right mirror, wheels and headlight. Witnesses with information about the incident or the suspect may contact the California Highway Patrol Inland Division at 909-806-2400.

Corona, CA: Residential project advances urban vision
