Corona, CA: Pirate Un-Dead Sail Away into the Night

Halloween night! With a bounty of rum and rousing good times, pirate ghouls, ghosts and goblins came from far and wide to occupy each corner of the Callhouse Inn. It fast became a rendezvous for restless spirits of blood-thirsty pirates and sailors from the Seven Seas and Davy Jones Locker.

The swashbucklers drank their grog and discoursed, in typical sailor fashion, on their scandalous high seas detour between Singapore and Bombay and London and Port Said.

Corona, CA: Corona's Antiques Adventure turns "10"

The 10th Anniversary Corona Antiques & Collectibles Faire will be hosting 54 dealers and tasty new food vendors for your springtime Saturday enjoyment. It just keeps growing and is one of the most intriguing events at the park.

There'll be live entertainment and lots of local celebrities as usual. The museum, trains, artists and the natural beauty of the park will all be available for perusing. If you're a antiques enthusiast, make sure you plan to be in town for this picker's paradise.

This year, in addition to the Cornbread Washtub Band, we will have several other local musicians playing sample sets. We are particularly proud to present the Guitar Center's (the world's largest musical instrument retailer) 2010 King of Blues, Randy Scott, from a nationwide search for great undiscovered blues guitar players. Scott beat out four other finalists at the House of Blues in Los Angeles in front of a live audience and a panel of celebrity judges, and shared the stage with world-renowned guitarists. Now you can here him play this Saturday, June 4th, along with others for free.

Mirrored Magic: The Art of the Kaleidoscope at The Corona Heritage Museum

The Corona Heritage Museum is proud to announce the opening of their exclusive new exhibit - the largest museum collection of kaleidoscopes in the United States - Mirrored Magic: The Art of the Kaleidoscope. These aren't cardboard tubes with plastic lenses. They are incredibly fine pieces of art that are delightful to view, inside and out. The exhibit will be open to the general public beginning Saturday, October 18th, 10am - 2pm. As are all of our exhibits, it's free admission.

Get your tickets now for the Isle of Corona Summer Luau and experience fantastic food, tropical drinks and an evening of hot island entertainment. The perfect way to chill-out on what could be the hottest day of the year. All proceeds will fund construction of new handicap access to some of the more difficult areas of the park. (And, as if you needed any further reason, it's actually a historic occasion - because it also celebrates the time when Hawaii became a state in 1959.)

The traditional-styled luau will feature kalua pig, teriyaki chicken and lomi lomi salmon. Not just this or that - all you want of all of it, except for poi. (Nobody really likes poi, do they?) But, it's all accompanied by a great live band. And, for reasons we can't explain right now, some of the special entertainment lined-up cannot be revealed, but we know your whole family will find it spectacular!

It's Saturday evening, August 16, 2008, beginning at 6 p.m. Discount pre-sale adult tickets are $45 each, or $50 the day of the event if not sold out. Ages twelve and under are $30 each. RED-HOT-COOL...Corona Art Association!

The Corona Art Association will host their first
annual THEME show "RED-HOT-COOL".

You may enter June 12th. 1:00-6:30 p.m., three
pictures, fourth pic FREE if member, non-members may
enter three pics. Membership for the year is $24.

We ask that you participate in our theme with at least
ONE picture in either a WARM or COOL palette. We would
be SO pleased if all your pictures followed the theme
but at lest try ONE! The picture should depict you
interpretation of Summer!!

Generally our summer shows are for members only and
are not judged, but we are tying something new. An
unbiased panel of three judges (members) who are
exempt from prizes will judge the show. Prizes will be
donated and "goodies" to win at the reception Sat.
June 21st. 5:30-7:00 p.m. A Special Award will be
presented to the artist whose work best followed the
theme and there will also be a popular vote.

All paintings must be wired properly on back with
screw eyes and wire, no sawtooth hangers. The work
must be dry and if painting on wrap around canvas ALL
sides must be painted. No pictures to exceed 40" wide
by 54" tall. Show ends August 14th.

Corona Art Association Presents...

GENERAL MEETING: Tuesday April 8th.

The Corona Art Association will hold their general
meeting at 7 pm Tuesday April 8th and will feature
acclaimed pastel artist Catherina Chu who will
demonstrate another of her talents, the art of Chinese
brush painting. The meeting is held in the ART HOUSE
GALLERY, 510 W. Foothill Parkway (one block W. of Main
St.) at Corona Heritage Park Museum. Light
refreshments are served, join us for fun and raffles
and a chance to win one of Catherina's works. Contact:

SPRING FLING ART SHOW:

The Corona Art Association will host the annual Spring
Fling Art Show. All local artists are urged to enter
their work on April 17th 1-6:30 pm. Show opens
Thursday April 24, and ends on June 7th during the
Corona Antiques & Collectibles Faire at Corona
Heritage Park Museum.

You may view the show at the ART HOUSE GALLERY, 510 W.

Coming again . . . Corona Antiques and Collectibles Faire

Success has been sweet for the Antiques Faire, now in planning for its seventh time around. Each year it has grown so much that a lot of forethought has to be had to make it fit on this little five acres. One of the nicest things you can expect as an attendee is that there is only room for quality stuff. Or, No Garage Sale Rubbish, as we say. We expect many of the dealers we've had in the past, which have first dibs of course, as well as more new things than will be accepted. It's a nice position to be in, to be able to pick and choose and make the best out of it.

Mark your calendar now for the first Saturday in June, the 7th this year, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. It's free, it's fun, and the weather is always nice. You can expect parking to be less than adequate, and some walking is usually involved, but most people find it worthwhile attending Corona's best antiquing adventure.
