The ticket in Wednesday night's draw matched five numbers -- 6, 9, 11, 28 and 45 -- but did not have the Mega number of 7. It was one of six such tickets, each worth $10,053.

An new vice president has been tapped to oversee Temecula Valley Hospital along with four other regional medical centers that fall under Universal Health Services' umbrella in southern California.

Immediately, John Harris will temporarily fill the vacancy left at Rancho Springs Medical Center in Murrieta and Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar when former CEO Ken Rivers resigned in September, a spokesperson for Southwest Healthcare System said Thursday, in a news release.

Corona, CA: 91 Freeway expansion leaves homes in limbo

Judy Le Master's mobile home is far enough from the wall separating it from the 91 Freeway. But she can't help but wonder if her property would be one of the ones that may be purchased by the Riverside County Transportation Commission to make way for the expansion of the freeway.

"If they do take them I wish they'd take mine, because I don't want to be right up against the freeway wall," said Master of Corona.

Starting next year, construction will begin to widen the freeway between Riverside and Orange County.

Two people who bought Mega Millions Lottery tickets worth more than $300,000 apiece at Inland Empire convenience stores have until the end of today to claim their winnings -- or lose them altogether.

On March 27, nine Mega players were holding tickets that matched five of six numbers, giving each of them a share of a nearly $3 million pot. Seven people claimed their shares, totaling $308,573 each. But two winners who purchased tickets in the Inland Empire have yet to come forward.

One ticket was purchased at a 7-Eleven store at 7014 Archibald Ave. in Corona. The other ticket was bought at an am/pm minimart at 3890 N. University Parkway in San Bernardino.

The City Council of Corona, California has ratified their decision to officially terminate their red-light camera program effective November 5, 2012. At the City Council meeting on September 4th, the City narrowly voted 3-2 to axe the city's contract with Redflex Traffic Systems, Inc. The Southern California City, located in Riverside County 47 miles southeast of Los Angeles, originally entered into the contract with Reflex on November 5, 2008. The contract consisted of a 3 year term with two automatic renewal terms of one year, unless a party canceled with 60 days notice.

Corona, CA: Apartments planned for former toxic site

Owners of a former toxic dump site in west Corona say they plan to build apartments and an industrial park on 38 acres.

The project could be considered by the Corona Planning Commission in November, but a date has not yet been set, said Sandra Yang, associate planner for Corona.

Developer Rusty Turner, of Turner Real Estate Investments in Newport Beach, said his company is working to get entitlements to build 288 apartments and an industrial park on the site known as Thomas Ranch. Revisions to the project still are being made.

Corona, CA: CA drivers will allowed to text, with restrictions

California drivers will be allowed to text when they're behind the wheel of a car, as long as they're using a hands-free device, and with some restrictions.

Under a bill signed into law by Gov. Jerry Brown on Friday, beginning Jan. 1, drivers will be able to send, dictate and listen to text messages, but only if they're using a voice-activated device attached to a cellphone by a headset or Bluetooth earpiece, or a program inside a vehicle, like OnStar.

AB 1536, sponsored by California Assemblyman Jeff Miller, R-Corona, will allow Californians to text behind the wheel for the first time since texting while driving was outlawed more than three years ago.

Corona, CA: Famed guitar maker Fender reverses course on going public, citing global economy

A famous piece of rock and roll history has changed its tune about going public.

Fender Musical Instruments Corp., which produced guitars strummed by the likes of Buddy Holly and Eric Clapton and famously set on fire by Jimi Hendrix, said late Thursday that it dropped its plans for an initial public offering.

The news came amid a handful of successful IPOs, prompting speculation about the reasoning behind Fender's decision.

AVT Inc. chairman and founder Shannon Illingworth told VT that the company is exploring the legal ramifications of its recently issued patent that relates to wireless networks for vending machines.

AVT's patented technology employs graphical touchscreen user interfaces, which can include means for paying for items vended and a two-way wireless network to connect an enterprise control center with remote vending machines. The patent, which covers 19 claims, does not apply to wireless control of a single machine nor to those networked by a DSL connection, Illingworth explained. See Patent No. 8,191,779 B2

AVT reportedly began developing the technology in 2001 and applied for the patent in 2005.

Renee Anne Vicary, 51, of Corona entered a not-guilty plea in court Wednesday on tax evasion and five other felony counts that include willful misrepresentation to obtain insurance, court documents indicate.

A Riverside commutant tolling up and down the 91 could drop more than $100 a week.
