Miguel’s Jr., a popular Mexican restaurant with locations across the Inland Empire and Orange County, has opened a new restaurant in Menifee, Calif. The new Miguel’s Jr. at 30362 Haun Road in Menifee opened on November 15, 2011, and the official ribbon cutting ceremony will take place on November 17, 2011, at 10:30 a.m.
The company will celebrate the latest opening by partnering with the Menifee Valley Community Cupboard, a non-profit organization based in Menifee, Calif., that aims to alleviate hunger and malnutrition by providing emergency food at no cost to the homeless, seniors and families who are experiencing hard times. Miguel’s Jr. will donate a percentage of sales from November 17th to the Community Cupboard. “My parents, the Founders of Miguel’s, recognize the importance of being part to the fabric of communities where we are located. All Nick Burson needed to do was finish the race - or in this case, make it to the halfway point - to claim the title, but the dominant USDR star decided to close out his season with another win. Zip-Ty Husqvarna's Burson charged to a convincing win at Red Mountain, California for the fifth and ultimate round of the U.S. Desert Racing championship.

The City of Corona Public Works and Police Departments ask residents to report suspected theft of copper wire.
At isolated sites in Corona, late at night and in the early morning hours, thieves are stealing underground wire between streetlights. After cutting the stolen wire into small pieces to resemble "scrap metal", the thieves take it to recycling centers for quick cash; thus making the copper stealing business a profitable crime. The rising value of copper has stimulated this criminal activity.

On display at the SEMA show, which ran from November 1 through November 4, were two tricked-out vehicles, which were inspired by sports ambassadors Blake Griffin and Michelle Wie. The two outrageous vehicles were a product of West Coast Customs (WCC), based in Corona, CA. The basketball-themed Optima Hybrid, inspired by basketball all-star Blake Griffin, features hardwood floors and a pop-up basketball hoop. The golf-themed Kia Soul, inspired by Michelle Wie of the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA), features Michelle’s personal artwork.
Kia's first-ever hybrid in the U.S. delivers up to 40 miles per gallon on the highway. A gang member who fatally shot a 13-year-old Corona boy during an attack on celebrants at a "Sweet 16" birthday party was convicted today of first-degree murder and other charges.
Jurors deliberated a week before finding Lewis Gray guilty of the murder count, as well as attempted voluntary manslaughter, conspiracy and shooting at an inhabited dwelling, and jurors found true special circumstance allegations of killing for the benefit of a street gang and having committed a prior murder.

New Technologies Show Potential for Stretching Current Water and Energy Supply
Bureau of Reclamation Commissioner Michael L. Connor has announced that $1,509,000 has been awarded for seven new projects under the Desalination and Water Purification Research Program. The awards include five research and laboratory studies and two pilot tests. Reclamation is also funding the second phase of two previously awarded projects. This funding will be leveraged to support $2,771,752 in research of alternative water treatment technologies.
"By investing in alternative water treatment technology research we are working to find ways to stretch the nation's current water supply, use less energy and reduce impacts to the environment," Commissioner Connor said today. "The research we are funding has the potential to unlock efficiencies that ensure future water supplies, strengthen our economy and create jobs."

Corona, CA: Pirate Un-Dead Sail Away into the Night
Halloween night! With a bounty of rum and rousing good times, pirate ghouls, ghosts and goblins came from far and wide to occupy each corner of the Callhouse Inn. It fast became a rendezvous for restless spirits of blood-thirsty pirates and sailors from the Seven Seas and Davy Jones Locker.
The swashbucklers drank their grog and discoursed, in typical sailor fashion, on their scandalous high seas detour between Singapore and Bombay and London and Port Said.
Riverside, CA: Transgender student expelled from private Riverside university
A man who identifies himself as a woman said she has been expelled from a nursing program at California Baptist University for appearing on a television program to discuss her gender identity, a local newspaper is reporting.
Domaine Javier, 24, told the Riverside Press-Enterprise she was expelled from the school after appearing on MTV’s "True Life” and declaring that she is biologically male. Javier dresses as a woman and has identified herself as female since childhood.
