Corona, CA: Wife Inadvertently Runs over Husband in Driveway, Killing Him

A 77-year-old Corona man was killed today when his wife accidentally backed over him in their car, a sergeant said.

Sam Uyematsu died from injuries suffered in the driveway of his home in the 1000 block of Lullaby Lane, according to Corona police Sgt. Frank Barron.

He said the victim was trying to direct his wife, 82-year-old Hideko Uyematsu, out of a parking space and onto the street at around 11:25 a.m.

"For unknown reasons, Hideko accelerated backwards, colliding into her husband," the sergeant said. "Her husband was pinned under the vehicle, and neighbors who witnessed the accident helped push the vehicle off of him."

Uyematsu was pronounced dead two hours later at Riverside Community Hospital.
