Corona, CA: Filmmaker Farrelly to speak at Corona church

Throughout the month, South Hills Church, of Corona, will work to inspire others to follow their dreams. Filmmaker Peter Farrelly will be speaking at the church Saturday at 5 p.m. to help spread this message.

Farrelly is best known for co-writing, directing, and producing comedies such as "Dumb and Dumber" and "There's Something About Mary" with his brother, Bobby Farrelly.

"He is an obvious dreamer; we are hoping to learn some principles from him to keep dreaming," said Billy Phipps, associate pastor of South Hills Church.

The free event is open to the public. Farrelly will be sharing his life story and personal hopes to kick off an inspirational series South Hills Church is holding called Dream Again.

"It seems as though children have no problem dreaming. If you ask them what they want to be when they grow up, they'll have an answer. But something happens as we grow older. Dreams begin to fade and lie dormant. The Dream Again series will bring some light to our hopes and bring life to our dreams," Phipps said.

Though he is not affiliated with South Hills Church, Farrelly's story of hardships and success is intended to encourage others to continue to have aspirations and follow through with goals.

"We looked at past years and have realized that because of the economy and world events, many people are too tired or insecure to dream. We wanted to respond to the problem without talking about the negative," Phipps said.

The event will take place during South Hills' regular Saturday night service, which runs from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The Dream Again series will include sermons later in the month addressing the church's dreams for the future.
