The Newbury College softball program looks to climb the ranks of the New England College Conference (NECC) with the release of seven new student-athletes who have committed to Newbury for the 2012-2013 academic year. Head Coach Brook Capello notes that these players are not only talented, but they also have the experience and character needed to help build the Nighthawks into contenders for a NECC title in 2013.
Amber Rapchun – Outfield/1B (Corona, Calif./Centennial)
Club Team: SoCal Rebels
Amber is the type of player that stands out on the softball diamond. Coach Capello was immediately drawn to her as a player due to her intensity and enthusiasm on the field. She’s fiercely competitive and takes a leadership role in keeping her team motivated and focused. She has been rewarded for her efforts as the captain of the SoCal Rebels. Amber has a love for the game and will represent the program well by playing it the right way. Off the diamond, Amber is also the President of the Unity class at Centennial. She plans to study both sports management and legal studies at Newbury College.
