The City of Corona is conveniently located 25 miles from Southern California family theme parks and 45 miles from local beaches and Los Angeles in western Riverside County. The City limit encompasses 39.2 square miles and is home to a population of approximately 153,649 residents. The City is seeking a Police Chief to oversee 248 sworn and civilian personnel and an operating budget of $43,746,647. The Police Chief reports to the City Manager and is responsible for oversight of Police management, supervisory, professional, technical and clerical staff. The successful candidate will have the ability to clearly communicate, be sensitive to the fiscal issues currently facing local government, and maintain positive relationships with key members of the Community and City staff. Candidates will possess the highest level of integrity and honesty. A Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, public administration or related field; and ten years of increasingly responsible professional local law enforcement and related activities, including two or more years of management level experience is required along with POST certification, Advanced Management and Supervisory certification or equivalent professional certification. The salary for the incoming Police Chief ranges from $12,875-$15,717 monthly and is dependent upon qualifications. The City also offers an attractive benefits package.
