Corona, CA: Assemblyman Jeff Miller to run for Congress

Secures Major Endorsements, including Senator Bill Emmerson

Republican Assemblyman Jeff Miller announced today that he will be a candidate for Congress, assuming there are no major changes to the new congressional seat created in Riverside County by the Citizens Redistricting Commission.

“Representing our area in Congress would be a great honor, but more importantly, it will give me the opportunity to work at the national level on creating jobs, reducing debt and protecting taxpayers,” said Miller. “I have represented much of this new district over the last ten years as a Mayor, County Party Chairman and member of the Assembly and am very pleased to have significant support from the district.”

Already, Miller has been endorsed by the district's State Senator, Bill Emmerson, and a majority of Mayors in the district and leaders in law enforcement, the Hispanic community, and employers from across the district, which stretches from Corona in the West, to Moreno Valley in the East.

Among the endorsements Jeff Miller announced today were Norco Mayor Berwin Hanna, Mayor Pro Tem Kevin Bash, Council Member Kathy Azevedo, Council Member Greg Newton, and Council Member Harvey Sullivan, along with Corona City Mayor Pro Tem Eugene Montanez and Eastvale City Council Member Kelly Howell.

A 25 year successful businessman and business owner, Miller served as both the Mayor and a Councilman in Corona before his election to the State Assembly in 2008. Miller's community service began in 1995 when he was appointed as a Parks Commissioner in Corona. As a member of the Riverside County Transportation Commission, Jeff became one of the region's leading experts on transportation issues, and has also served on the Western Riverside Council of Governments since 2001, serving as Chairman from 2005-2007. Believing that public safety is the first priority of government, Jeff became the first statewide Co-Chair of the Jessica's Law campaign in 2005, helping protect children from sexual predators by ushering in the most sweeping overhaul of the state's penal code in a generation.
