Juried Show Open to Public Through June 25
Chick Curtis won two awards, including Best of Show, at the Summer Arts at Dos Lagos Juried Art Show, which opens to the public today. Curtis and 13 other artists were announced as winners of $5,000 in prizes at a preview reception on Wednesday at The Shops at Dos Lagos, located at Temescal Canyon Road between Weirick Road and Cajalco Road in Corona.
Curtis, who lives in Riverside, received the $1,000 Best of Show Award for his oil painting of his nephew David Curtis, and an Honorable Mention $200 Award for “Mooo-ve Over,” an oil painting he said was inspired “after watching cattle while driving along Route 1 North of Santa Cruz.”
The other top Dos Lagos show winners are:
First Place $800: Steven J. Mueller from Perris for "Bullets" in Photography category

In addition to Curtis, Lorraine Dawson of Murietta won a $200 Honorable Mention Award for her Acrylic "Late Afternoon.” The other $200 Honorable Mention winners include:

More than 400 pieces of artwork from Riverside, San Diego, San Bernardino and Orange County artists were accepted by the Jury for the Corona center’s Summer Arts at Dos Lagos show. The Jury included Martin Betz, Laguna Beach Festival of Arts Exhibits Director; Jane Darin, San Diego Sculptor; Daniel Foster President/Chief Executive Officer, The Community Foundation; and Joanna Mersereau, Riverside artist and author.

The Summer Arts at Dos Lagos Gallery is Open!
Admission is free to the Summer Arts at Dos Lagos Juried Art Show Gallery, which is located near New York & Company at The Shops at Dos Lagos. The Gallery is open daily through June 25: Monday –Friday from 3 to 7 p.m., Saturday from 12 to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 12 to 4 p.m.
Most of the original artwork displayed in the beautiful Gallery is available for purchase. Artists will receive 70% of artwork sales, with 15% donated to the Corona Art Association, and 15% to the Riverside Arts Council. The Show also features the Heart Gallery, a special portrait exhibit to raise community awareness about foster care and to help find homes for foster children. Starting on June 18, visitors to the Summer Arts at Dos Lagos Juried Art Show can bid on two paintings which Gregory Adamson will create at his performance with The Three of Us Band at the Dos Lagos Amphitheater this Friday, June 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. The public is invited to the FREE performance and have the opportunity to win one of the paintings in a random drawing. The other two paintings will be displayed for Silent Auction sale from June 18 – 25 at the Art Show Gallery. The highest painting bidders may purchase the paintings after the Art Show ends on June 25, with all proceeds donated equally between the Corona Art Association and the Riverside Arts Council.
Visitors to the Art Show can register for the chance to win exclusive art prizes including VIP tickets to the Laguna Beach 2011 Pageant of the Masters with a guided backstage tour, and VIP tickets to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art Tim Burton Exhibition.
