The Murrieta location marks the chain's 9th location in the Inland Empire.
Celebrate Cinco de Mayo by stopping by the newest Miguel's JR location, right here in Murrieta.
The Murrieta location marks the family owned and operated restaurant's 9th quick-service location.
The restaurant, located at 39713 Avenida Acacias, next to IN-N-OUT, offers quick meals using the same family recipes from Miguel's full-service locations in Corona, Foothill Ranch and The Promenade at Dos Lagos.
"Our recipes are passed down from generations ago," said Steve Rezner, marketing director. "It's homestyle mexican food made from scratch."
The quality of the menu remains the same whether it is at one of their full-service locations or their quick service locations, Rezner said.
"The quality is the same but the prices are great. We offer extreme pricing," he said.
Miguel's Restaurant was founded in 1973 by Mike and Mary Vasquez in Corona. They renamed it Miguel's in honor of Mike's grandfather, and decided to make an attempt at the restaurant business, according to the company website.
With four small children, they struggled to make a go of it. Mike kept his day job and worked the restaurant at night, while Mary developed dishes and recipes based on those from her childhood in Mexico. By 1975, business was improving so much they decided to open a fast food restaurant down the road and named it Miguel's JR.
Rezner said Miguel's JR now has locations scattered throughout the Inland Empire, and that Murrieta was one of the most requested locations.
"We have a lot of transplants from Corona that know our product and our prices," Rezner said.
Miguel's JR in Murrieta is opening with 25 full- and part-time employees. The building was constructed from the ground up within three months. Another Miguel's JR location will open in Menifee in August, at the Countryside Marketplace.
Though today marks a soft opening for the Murrieta location, a grand opening is planned for 11 a.m. May 18. Miguel's JR is teaming up with Wishes for Children, so a percentage of that day's sales will go to support wishes for children in the Temecula and Murrieta Valley.
Miguel's JR in Murrieta is open from 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday. The hours may be adjusted once the restaurant has been open a few weeks, Rezner said.
