Hundreds attend first I.E. Hip Hop Awards, hosted by Fontana resident

Fontana resident Brian S. Arrington helped produce the Inland Empire 1st Annual 2008 “Street Official” Hip-Hop Music Awards last month.

UMPD Distribution and Def Edge Entertainment, two separate Inland Empire music, radio and TV production companies, produced the event at The Beer Hunter in Rancho Cucamonga. More than 400 people attended this standing-room-only event.

Street Official is a hip-hop radio show heard every Sunday from 8 to 10 p.m. on www.SuperRadioMix.com.

Arrington, the host/executive producer, said the show “exposes its audience to the underground hip-hop scene found in the Inland Empire.”

Street Official, which has been heard on air for more than two years, helps recognize many artists who have never received radio play or interviews on any radio show.

As a means to build on the Street Official foundation of being a champion of exposing Inland Empire music, Arrington and him manager, Bryon Thompson (president of Def Edge Entertainment), decided to take their mission one step further. The next step was the creation of the Street Official Hip-Hop Awards.

Arrington, who is married with three children, is the owner of UMPD Distribution. In addition to his radio and television interests, Arrington is the designer of his namesake clothing line, Brian Steven, with the woman's line Briana Skylar named after his daughter. Arrington is also the marketing director of www.SuperRadioMix.com.
