The fifth annual Angel Faces retreat for adolescent girls, ages 11 through 19, with severe facial injuries will be held from June 22nd - 27th, at Glen Ivy Retreat Center in Riverside County, CA (north of San Diego). The innovative, six-day retreat, created exclusively for young women who have suffered extensive facial injuries, will include over 20 adolescent girls from the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The event will be lead by Lesia Cartelli, a San Diego resident and burn survivor who founded the retreat in 2003.
The Angel Faces retreat will help the girls to overcome the emotional effects of their trauma in their daily lives by teaching them how to positively handle stares and teasing, focusing on social and behavioral skills to enhance self confidence, working on goal setting and making positive life
choices.
A powerful component of the program is teaching the girls how to apply corrective makeup techniques to cover their scars/birth anomalies while enhancing their inner beauty. Another highlight is "spa experience," where local professionals volunteer to treat the girls to facials, massages, and new hairstyles. At the end of the program, the girls will have experienced a true
makeover for both their physical and emotional wounds. Results are extraordinary.
Angel Faces is the only program of it's kind in the United States and was featured on the Dr. Phil Show, where Lesia Cartelli received a "Heart of Woman" award for founding the program.

About Angel Faces
Angel Faces is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide healing retreats designed to inspire adolescent girls with severe facial disfigurement to achieve their optimal potential, and develop meaningful relationships for themselves, their families, and their communities. This
unique retreat focuses on the healing process within a holistic framework of mind, heart, and spirit. The end result is a new and hope-filled start for the girls who leave the retreat with the skills and tools to create the life they want, and to overcome the challenges of living with a facial
disfigurement. Angel Faces was established in 2003 by Lesia Cartelli, who endured a serious burn injury to over 50% of her face and body from a natural gas explosion at the age of nine. Growing up and dealing with the resulting disfigurements was the catalyst for her founding and directing the organization.
