Candidate Neil Blais Finally Admits He Was A Democrat Until The Late 90s

The race for Assembly in the 71st District took a dramatic turn last night when candidate Neil Blais decided to come clean and admit he had been a Democrat until "96 or 97."

"After months of dancing around the question, Neil Blais finally decided to tell the truth about his party affiliation," said Shawn Fago, President of the Orange County Young Republicans.

Mayor Jeff Miller, the former chairman of the Republican Party of Riverside, is the top Republican candidate in the 71st district. He has been endorsed by leading Republicans in both Orange and Riverside counties, including Congressman Ed Royce, Senator Bob Dutton and Assemblyman Mike Duvall.

"All during the Reagan, Bush 1 and Clinton years, while Jeff Miller was working hard to elect Republicans, Neil Blais was a voting Democrat," said Miller's consultant Dave Gilliard. "It seems Neil just plopped himself down in Orange County in 1997, checked the political landscape, and decided it would be in his best political interests to become a Republican."
