Both directions to be shut down overnight as Green River bridge is demolished.

Demolition of the Green River Road bridge in Corona will prompt a full closure of the 91 freeway this weekend.

Motorists are urged to use detours to avoid major delays. Both directions of the freeway will be closed from 11 p.m. Saturday to 11:30 a.m. Sunday.

Drivers should use I-10 and 60 as east and west routes into and out of the Inland Empire; the 57 freeway to reach the 10 and the 60; and the 15, 71 or 215 to travel north and south within the Inland Empire counties.

The demolition is part of a $21 million effort to build a new bridge. The project includes adding two traffic lanes and the realignment of on-ramps and off-ramps.

In addition, the connector linking southbound I-215 with the westbound 60 will be shut down until 7 a.m. March 2.
