Corona, CA: Jake Lewis Breaks Track Record and Earns AMA Horizon Award

Jake Lewis has been turning heads all season long in the WERA Championship on his Race Tech backed motorcycle, and he stepped over to compete in his final AMA amateur event before heading to the pro ranks at Daytona in 2012. Not even a trip to the hospital could keep Jake Lewis from winning the most prestigious award in amateur roadracing; the AMA Roadrace Horizon Award.

Jake took the track immediately showing the field he meant business. Qualifying fastest each time out and setting a new 600 track record, Lewis set himself up as the favorite for the Horizon Award. After a win the first race out; Lewis went down hard and took a trip to the hospital.

After returning to the track, Lewis learned he had already shown enough to earn the Horizon Award; although he had to sit out the rest of the day's action. The AMA Roadrace Horizon Award goes to the graduating amateur who shows the most promise for a successful career in professional racing.

Race Tech would like to congratulate Jake on winning the 2011 AMA Roadrace Horizon Award, and we wish him luck as he heads into the GNF to wrap up a few WERA Championships before preparing to take on the AMA pros at Daytona next year.
