Corona, CA: A's agree to terms with 22 players from 2011 First-Year Player Draft

The Oakland A's have agreed to terms with 22 players from the 2011 First-Year Player Draft held last week, including center fielder Bobby Crocker (4th round, Cal Poly-SLO), catcher Beau Taylor (5th, Central Florida), center fielder Dayton Alexander (6th, Feather River College) and right-handed pitcher Blake Treinen (7th, South Dakota State).

Crocker was a First Team All-Big West Conference selection and was named Team MVP after batting .339 with 13 doubles, a triple and five home runs this year. Taylor batted .325 with five home runs and 47 RBI as a junior after hitting .354 as a sophomore. Alexander hit .382 and stole 18 bases in 38 games for Feather River College. Treinen was 7-3 with a 3.00 ERA in 13 games, all starts, and struck out 84 in 84.0 innings.

The other 18 players include outfielder Xavier Macklin (12th round, North Carolina A&T State), third baseman Jacob Tanis (13th, Mercer), catcher Nicholas Rickles (14th, Stetson), right-handed pitcher T.J. Walz (15th, Kansas), right-handed pitcher Tanner Peters (16th, UNLV), shortstop Sean Jamieson (17th, Canisius College), left-handed pitcher Brent Powers (18th, Sam Houston State), left-handed pitcher Eric Potter (19th, Maryland), right-handed pitcher Kurt Wunderlich (20th, Michigan State), outfielder Rhett Stafford (22nd, Marshall), right-handed pitcher Cecil Tanner (23rd, Georgia), center fielder Chad Oberacker (25th, Tennessee Tech), shortstop Sam Roberts (26th, Virginia Military Institute), right-handed pitcher Thomas Girdwood (28th, Elon University), right-handed pitcher Nate Eppley (29th, Rider University), right-handed pitcher Nathan Kilcrease (30th, Alabama), right-handed pitcher Drew Granier (32nd, Louisiana-Monroe and right-handed pitcher Maxwell Perlman (35th, Harvard).
