Corona, CA: Corona Veterans' Memorial Division hosts motorcycle ride and car show

A motorcycle ride and car show were held on Welcome Back Home Vietnam Veterans Day March 26 by the Corona Veterans’ Memorial Division. The Division was founded by Ruben Rasso who is also the CEO and President of the Division. The Division was formed for two reasons: to honor and recognized all Corona and Norco Veterans no matter what war they served in, and to raise funds for the construction of phases one and two of the Corona Veterans’ Memorial.

The car show was held at Quality Toyota in Corona, California. This was the final stop of a motorcycle ride that started at Skip Fordyce Harley Davidson in Riverside. The riders then went to Riverside National Cemetery for a ceremony and then rode to the car show at Quality Toyota.

The was a lot of activity at the car show, there were 30 cars of different makes and types ranging from a Chevrolet ton-and-a-half Army truck from World War II. Several custom cars made by Ford, Chevrolet and Dodge were also on display.

The vendors consisted of a food tent as well as a motor home from the Department of Veterans Affairs-Temecula Vet Center. They had counselors on hand to assist any veterans needing help. Down from them was American Legion 262 with a Harley-Davidson motorcycle that will be raffled off at the upcoming Casa Colina Event. Next to them was Abate Local 27 of Riverside with pamphlets of information and flyers of upcoming events.

The Corona Boxing Club was also on hand, and the last vendor was Chris Sneed of Pinstriping by Chris, who was actually across the lot painting a motorcycle along with pin striper Chilin also known as Isidro Aguilera of Pinstriping by Chilin. In the middle of the lot was Stella Pierre's Gourmet Grub, andthe food from them must have been good as there was a constant line of people at the order window.

Ruben Rasso gave thanks to all those that attended and donated to the memorial. He was followed by Seventy First District Assemblyman Jeff Miller who also gave his personal thanks.

One of the highlights of the event was the performance by singer Amy Scruggs. Amy is officially endorsed by AmVets or American Veterans, a service organization for California Veterans.

This was the first time for this event, many of the participants are looking forward to attending next year.
