Corona, CA: TEAM ZIP-TY HUSQVARNA TAKES ON TAFT BIG 6 GRAND PRIZE

Corona, CA: Just one week after the 2011 WORCS series opener at Honolulu Hills, Team Zip-Ty Husqvarna was back in action in Taft, California for the Big 6 Grand Prix series kick off. "We wanted to get some more time on the 2011 race bikes, so the Dirt Diggers MC Grand Prix provided the perfect opportunity," said Zip-Ty Racing field general Ty Davis. "Fortunately the mud from the previous week had dried up and gave the guys a chance to see how fast the new bikes really are when not weighed down with 50 pounds of gunk!"

Zip-Ty Husqvarna teammates Nick Burson, Cory Graffunder and Jamie Lanza all turned out for the fun, with Burson having the best weekend of the wild bunch. "On Saturday, I raced the TXC250 in the expert class and finished in second place," notes Burson, who bested a full field to finish 7th overall, just behind Graffunder who piloted the powerful new 2011 Husqvarna TXC449 in Heavyweight 4-Stroke class competition.

"On Sunday, I raced the Heavyweight 4-Stroke Expert class and finished third on my new TXC449," Nick adds. "The race was really fun and well run! The Dirt Diggers did an excellent job of getting the races off on time and keeping the course well-maintained."

On Saturday afternoon Jamie Lanza teamed up with Graffunder on a TXC449 for a crack at the $2,500 two-person team race that the Dirt Diggers added for fun. Although this dynamic duo finished out of the money by placing 5th out of 44 Expert teams, Lanza really liked the big bike. "Prior to the start of the team race I had a total of about 5 minutes on a 449," Lanza said since he usually races Husqvarna TXC250 or TE310 models. "But I adapted quickly to the roomy ergonomics of the TXC449 and I was very impressed with the amount of power it had."

In fact Lanza liked the new TXC449 so much that he would like to give the machine another go. "The big bike handled very well on the rough Taft course and I felt just as comfortable as I would aboard my TXC250 or TE310. I look forward to spending some more time on the 449 this year in another team race!"
