Corona, CA: High school soccer coach accused of touching, kissing 14-year-old

An Ontario high school soccer coach is in custody after allegedly touching and kissing a 14-year-old player in a training room.

Officers arrested Earl Gann, 56, Tuesday near his home in Corona on suspicion of felony lewd acts with a child, said Ontario police Sgt. David McBride.

Detectives began investigating Gann after the victim, a student at Ontario Christian High School, told school authorities he "inappropriately touched and kissed her while she was alone with him" the afternoon of June 15, McBride said.

Officials told San Bernardino County Child Protective Services, which notified police, McBride said. The district attorney's office issued a warrant for Gann's arrest after detectives submitted their investigation.

Investigators believe it was the first and only time Gann allegedly assaulted the girl, McBride said.

But detectives are concerned there might be other victims, McBride said. Gann has coached the high school's junior varsity team for a year and spent several years coaching in the American Youth Soccer Organization, which McBride called a "huge organization."

"Our biggest concern is that this guy had all kinds of contacts," McBride said.

"There could have been many victims."

Police ask anyone with information about Gann or other potential assaults to call Det. Vince Carrillo at (909) 395-2949. McBride stressed reports would be confidential.
