Corona, CA: Californian wins over $687000 after hitting slot jackpot

A leisurely Labor Day Weekend jaunt (Saturday, Sept. 3) to Pala Casino Resort and Spa became a life-changing experience for a Corona, CA, slot player when the player won $687,520.90 after playing a Wheel of Fortune slot machine for just five minutes. The winner requested to remain anonymous.

“A good friend and I decided to go to a casino Saturday afternoon for the Labor Day weekend. I had never been to Pala. I put $20 in a $1 Wheel of Fortune slot machine and played the max coin line, which is a $5 bet. In less than five minutes the Wheel of Fortune x 3 symbols hit. I could not believe it,” the player said.

The $1 Wheel of Fortune machine that the winner hit is a linked progressive slot game created by International Gaming Technology (IGT) of Reno, NV. The game is linked to $1 Wheel of Fortune slot machines in all the tribal casinos nationwide. The jackpot builds, or progresses, based on the amount of play.

“It’s a popular game with slot players and the jackpot builds quickly with the national link," said Pala Chief Executive Bill Bembenek.
