The Burfict Choice: “I’m a Trojan!”

Vontaze Burfict Commits to Trojans

As we reported nearly two weeks ago, Vontaze Burfict wanted to make a commitment to the Trojans. Coaches asked him to visit USC and make his commitment in person. Burfict got his chance today, visited USC and made his commitment official.

Burfict met with Head football coach Pete Carroll, Ken Norton Jr. along with his uncle and aunt at Heritage Hall today.

Burfict related, "I came down today, around 5:00, talked to Pete Carroll, and told him I wanted to be a Trojan. My uncle and aunt came with me.” Sounding tired after the long drive home, but with a laugh, Burfict said “It was nice to get this commitment out of the way.”

Burfict became the tenth Trojan commitment for 2009. In his junior season, Burfict recorded 162 tackles. He currently stands 6’2” and weighs 235 lbs. He looks forward to contributing to the Trojans as a freshman.

At Corona Centennial (CA.), Burfict recorded 162 tackles as a junior.

In 2008, the Trojans will see the departure of linebackers Rey Maualuga, Brian Cushing and Kaluka Maiava. This will set the stage for the incoming freshman in 2009 to contribute immediately.
